How I do this: To get the success I know each of my athletes can reach I teach and train them by the following principles. Simple and Effective: I’m a believer in KISS... keep it simple stupid. There is nothing that complex about tweaking someone's aerobic engine. I don't give long drawn out descriptions of workouts. I simply state what needs to be done, and by working with you, when it should be done in the course of your basic week. It will probably seem quite simple at first. But give it some time and you'll catch on. Understand, don’t just do: When an athlete knows the "how and why" of what they are doing they will have a greater understanding of both the acute workout being done as well as how it falls into the greater scheme of things. Knowledge is power and the truth shall set you free. Believe in yourself: In addition to learning about the how and why of a workout I also like to improve my athletes' mental strength. Giving them the confidence in both themselves and their training so as to think that anything is possible. Who I am as a Coach: I see my job as one to make your time that you have to give to the sport the most useful and fun and fulfilling. I used to hate that feeling of wanting to do something after work that would be a really killer workout and great prep for that next race… but not really knowing what exactly it was I should do. I wanted to have a structured program written out for me that I had confidence in – that I KNEW would be the RIGHT thing and that would help me accomplish my goals. Now I can provide that, so let me handle the scheduling and allow you to enjoy the training. Why: I have always proclaimed... "I am an athlete" with great vindication ever since I was young... but now to that list I would like to add "giver". As in a giver of my talents, of my time, of my attention. To give back, to assist and most importantly to inspire and encourage others to do things they either thought not possible or a goal that they have set out to do. I want to help in these endeavours and give of myself and talents to others. If at the end of the day I know that I made a positive influence on someone and made their athletic life more enjoyable and fun then I know I did my job. How: The plan: I build it, you do it. We’ll work together on setting up how it will look but this is a partnership… I start it, you finish it. Communication: Email, txtmsg, IM, Phone… I’m wired. Schedule: Both racing and training will be tweaked exactly to your needs and goals |
